About Alluvial
Some experiences change you. Therapy can help you decide what you do with them.
Military service. Emergency response. Healthcare. Careers built around helping others. These experiences can shape how you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you.
Alluvial is a mental health practice for people whose lives have been shaped by service, demanding professions, and experiences that don’t always translate easily outside of them.
I work with military members, veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, and their families through stress, trauma, relationships, identity, substance use, and major life transitions.
Your work, your experiences, and the communities you’re part of can hold a lot of meaning. They can also make change complicated. Therapy offers a place to be honest about both: to understand what’s happening, reconnect with what matters, and consider what you want from the next chapter.
Who I Work With
Military service can become part of who you are. Leaving it doesn’t necessarily mean leaving that identity behind.
Whether you’re transitioning out, adjusting to retirement, navigating a new role, or trying to find purpose and connection in a different chapter, therapy can provide space to figure out what fits now.
When your work asks you to stay composed in situations most people never experience, it can be difficult to know where to put what you carry afterward.
Therapy can help with accumulated stress, difficult calls, relationships, burnout, substance use, boundaries, and the parts of life that don’t switch off when your shift ends.
Caring for other people can become so central to your life that your own needs move to the background.
Therapy provides room to work through stress, burnout, difficult experiences, relationships, identity, boundaries, and the weight of always being the one others depend on.
When someone you love works in a demanding profession or has served, their work can affect the whole family.
Partners and family members are welcome at Alluvial to address their own experiences, strengthen relationships, navigate change, and find support that isn’t dependent on being the person in the uniform or at the bedside.
You don’t have to be a military member, veteran, first responder, or healthcare worker to feel at home at Alluvial.
Maybe you’ve spent your life in another demanding profession. Maybe you’ve built your identity around caring for other people, leading, serving, protecting, or simply being the person everyone counts on.
Or maybe none of those descriptions quite fit. You just recognize yourself in the way I think about therapy.
What matters most is whether the work feels relevant to you.
What I Work On
You don't need a perfect explanation for why you're here.
Maybe you’re overwhelmed. Maybe something happened that you haven’t been able to shake. Maybe a relationship is struggling. Maybe your life looks different than you expected, or you know something needs to change but aren’t sure what.
Sometimes therapy is about getting through something difficult. Sometimes it’s about understanding patterns that aren’t serving you anymore. And sometimes it’s about figuring out what you actually want.
We can work together on:
- Stress, anxiety & overwhelm
- Trauma & difficult experiences
- Substance use & recovery
- Relationships & connection
- Identity & life transitions
- Purpose & meaning
- Boundaries & self-care
- Career, retirement & service-related transitions
My Approach
Come as you are. We'll start there.
Therapy doesn’t have to feel like performing for an expert or trying to give the u201crightu201d answers.
My approach is collaborative, grounded, and individualized. I draw from evidence-based approaches while adapting the work to you: your experiences, values, relationships, culture, and goals.
There may be times we focus on what happened and how it continues to affect you. Other times, we’ll work on coping, relationships, boundaries, communication, substance use, or decisions about where you want your life to go.
You don’t have to fit a particular idea of what therapy is supposed to look like.
The work is about understanding yourself more clearly and creating meaningful change in a way that makes sense for you.
Meet Your Clinician
I’m a Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Master of Social Work (MSW), and Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADDC). I grew up in a military family and spent nearly 20 years working as a first responder and in a trauma-center emergency room before becoming a therapist.
My professional and personal experiences, along with specialized MSW training focused on military members and their families, shape the way I understand the people I work with.
I bring clinical training together with firsthand familiarity with demanding professional cultures, the relationships that form within them, and the transitions that can come when life changes.
I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, grounded, and built around the person, not a predetermined idea of what their life should look like.
